E=MD^2 – Third Transnational Partner Meeting in Alba Iulia, Romania

The recent Third Transnational Project Meeting in Alba Iulia, Romania, on 20 and 21 April 2023, brought together partners from Macedonia, Spain, Romania, Cyprus and Croatia as part of the Erasmus+ E=MD2 initiative. The focus of the meeting was on the development of the E=MD2 teaching methodology and the creation of learning plans to support maths teachers in promoting inclusion in their classrooms.

During the meeting, extensive discussions were held on the development of the E=MD2 teaching methodology. The aim was to develop a new approach that embeds maths teaching in the context of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM). This methodology emphasises a peer-to-peer approach supported by teacher training to promote inclusion and incorporate concepts of diversity in maths teaching.

At the centre of the E=MD2 methodology is the development of an interactive e-MATHDEBATE platform. This platform has been specifically designed to support learners with difficulties in maths and enable a peer-led learning process.

E-MATHDEBATE will utilise an e-forum and more to create an engaging and accessible learning environment. A guide for navigating the platform will be provided. Importantly, students will also have the opportunity to contribute new ideas for teaching methods to create a collaborative and student-centred learning atmosphere.

At the end of the meeting, the project team announced that the project has taken steps towards inclusive maths teaching.
